The KMPlayer Overview
The KMPlayer is a versatile media player which can cover various types of container format such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg Theora, OGM, 3GP, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, and QuickTime among others. It handles a wide range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots in many ways.
Tweak
By default KMPlayer utilises it's own internal codecs for video and displaying subtitles.
The codecs that come with the player are good, but are unable to show styled subs and ordered chapters.
This problem can be fixed by allowing KMPlayer to use external codecs found in codec packs like CCCP.

(Matroska for example)

- External Video Decoder - Select External Decoder Search - Add after Scan - Ok
- External Video Decoder - H.264 Video & AVC1 Video select either * ffdshow Video Decoder or * CoreAVC Video Decoder
To enable styled subs
Open Preferences (F2) - Subtitle processing - Multi-Sub/etc - Advanced tab - check the 'Enable for the External Subtitle Module' - check the 'Render in real time'
To improve video and subtitle quality
Can be chosen from the right click menu Video (Advanced) - Video Renderer - use the VMR9 Renderless when you can
Tips and tricks
One of the amazing features it has that not many other players have is to give you a choice where would you like to draw subtitles
